"thoughts of return, relationships with other communities... lack of full assimilation"

exhibiting publicly since 1999, joanna elizabeth archetti-farnum chooses to represent her work under the character title of her alter-ego, a combination of the name of her grandmother and a term for the feelings created by forced dislocation and it's consequences on the individual psyche. born in ann arbor, michigan, trained in kansas city missouri, baltimore maryland, brooklyn new york, galway ireland, and zurich switzerland, this artist is at home in the world. the artist's grandmother was an inspiring woman, entrepreneur, role model, and pillar of strength and support in her life, both before and after her death. this influence, combined with the emotional and psychological effects of her own continuous relocations, make her who she is today, and deeply influence her artistic endeavors.

dd has shown her work in groups and solo over 50 times across the globe, won several art awards, had her work published in multiple countries as well as online, and is internationally collected. her paintings are in permanent museum collections in switzerland. dd also does oil portraits for private collectors and is currently working on a collection of paintings for the upcoming Ann Arbor Original Street Art Fair (July 17-20).
